Triple Chocolate Treats
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
2/3 packed, light brown sugar
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
4 squares (1 oz each) bittersweet chocolate
1/4 cup brewed coffee
1 cup red and green M & M's or similar candy
1/2 cup slivered almonds, coarsely chopped
Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder,
baking powder and salt. Set aside. In another large bowl, beat the butter
and sugars until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes. Beat in vanilla and eggs.
Melt chocolate, let cool slightly, then beat into mixture. On low speed, beat
in the flour mixture until just combined. Stir in coffee. Fold in the candies
and nuts. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 9 minutes or until set. Cool slightly on baking sheet. Remove cookies
to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat with any remaining dough.
