Rhubarb Cake

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 1/2 cups diced rhubarb

Topping

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup chopped nuts

Cream together sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla. Mix together flour,

baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.

Fold in rhubarb. Pour into a 9 x 13 inch rectangle baking pan. Sprinkle

with topping and bake 40 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
