Pork Pie
Prepared double crust pie crust
1 lb lean ground pork
1 cup water
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp sage
Dash pepper
Dash nutmeg
Brown pork. Drain excess fat and stir in water, onion, bread crumbs, salt, sage, pepper and nutmeg.
Simmer the mixture covered until onion is tender, about 20 minutes. Stir often.
Fill pastry lined 9 inch pie pan with the meat mixture.
Put on top crust and crimp the edges. Cut slits in the top crust for the steam to escape.
Bake uncovered in a 400 degree oven about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
You may need to cover the edges of the crust with foil, to keep them from over browning.
