Plum Pudding

 

 

1/2 dried plums

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1 egg

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp allspice

1/2 tsp each cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves

1/2 cup sifted flour

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 cup minced suet

1/2 cup raisins

Soak plums in hot water for 1/2 hour; cut into quarters. Cream sugar and egg; add buttermilk. Sift together baking powder, soda, salt, spices- stir into egg mixture. Add suet, plums, raisins. Pour into a greased 1 quart casserole and steam 2-21/2 hours.
