Pear Preserves
12 pears
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar
Combine water and sugar in a large pot; cook over low heat stirring until sugar
is dissolved. Bring to a full boil; boil for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, wash, core and slice
pears. Add pears to syrup; cook over medium heat until pears are clear and syrup
is thickened and spins a thread. Pour into hot sterilized jars; seal at once.
