Fruited Cake Squares

3 cups sugar

4 eggs

3 cups flour

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 lb butter

1 can fruit pie filling

Preheat oven to 350F In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Add all other

ingredients except for pie filling. Spread 2/3 batter in greased 13"x9" baking pan. Dot fruit on

top of batter. Add remaining batter on top in random spoonfuls. It will probably not cover the

entire pan. Bake 45-50 minutes until nicely browned. Cool. Cut into squares.

For a healthier dish, use Splenda sugar substitute, cup for cup.

Depending on the holiday I have used cherry, blueberry, apple and pineapple pie filling.
