Chocolate Chip Blondies

 

1/4 cup butter or margarine

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 egg

1 Tsp vanilla extract

1/4 Tsp baking soda

1 cup all purpose flour

1/4 Tsp salt

1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of an 8" square baking pan. In a medium bowl,

cream together butter and brown sugar. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. In a small bowl,

combine flour baking soda and salt. Add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat until just blended.

Do not over mix. Add the chocolate chips and pecans to batter. Stir until well blended. Spread batter in prepared pan.

Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Let cool before cutting.

Note: Reduce the sugar in the brownies by substituting Splenda brand sugar brown sugar substitute cup for cup.

You can also reduce the fat by replacing butter with applesauce
