Baked Doves with Apple Stuffing

12 doves

3 cups fresh bread crumbs

2 cups tart apples, cubed

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/4 cup melted butter

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp poultry seasoning

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup milk or chicken broth

Put doves in a large saucepan; add a little boiling salted water.

Cover; simmer until tender. Drain; set aside. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Grease roasting pan. Prepare Apple Stuffing: in a mixing bowl, combine

remaining ingredients. Mix well; turn into the baking pan. Arrange doves,

breast down, in stuffing. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until browned.
